Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Buffy the Vampire Slayer S1:E1 Welcome to the Hellmouth

“In every generation there is a chosen one, she alone with stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness, she is the Slayer… “

A hand smashes through a window; a man and a woman are climbing through, welcome to Sunnydale High. The halls are dark and silent. The woman, obviously reluctant and afraid says, “We’re just going to get into trouble.” The man replies, “You can count on it.” He puts his arms around her and lean in for a kiss when she hears a noise and whips around, “what as that?” she asks, “Nothing, we’re all alone,” the man replies. That’s when she turns around, her face is distorted and bumpy, “Good” she says and then she sinks her fangs into his neck.

Meet Darla.

Hey there, bumpy face! .

Hey there, bumpy face! .

Buffy Anne Summers has come to a small town called Sunnydale. Buffy is 16 and all she wants to do is live a normal life. But as a Vampire Slayer, the Slayer, she can’t do that. Her first day of Sunnydale high seems to start off on the wrong foot. Her new principle, Principle Flutie, seems to have taken a dislike to her after reading her school records and learning that she set her previous gym on fire, and got kicked out. He gently but firmly lets her know that trouble making wont be tolerated. On her way out of the principles office someone bumps into her, knocking her things out of her hands, her belongings go rolling, including a very pointy stake. A nice young man stops to help her pick up her things.

Meet Xander Harris

"Hey! You forgot your...stake!"

“Hey! You forgot your…stake!”

Xander is your typical “un-cool” teenage boy. He awkwardly assists Buffy, “Can I have you? Uhhhh, Can I HELP you?” Poor Xander.“Maybe I’ll see you around, at school, since we both…go ..there.” Buffy rushes off to find her next class. In Buffy’s first class she meets another person.

Meet Cordelia Chase

"I would kill to live in L.A., that close to that many shoes...."

“I would kill to live in L.A., that close to that many shoes….”

Cordelia is a shallow, superficial, bitch. She is the Queen Bee of Sunnydale High. Cordelia is the cheerleader, prom queen, popular girl. You know the type, the type I wasn’t in high school. The one who picks on who she calls “the losers” of the school. She befriends Buffy immediately, as they leave their class together Cordelia rounds on a redheaded girl at the water fountain.

Meet Willow Rosenburg

Cordelia says to Willow, “Willow, nice dress, good to know you’ve seen the softer side of Sears.” Willow stammers out, “Well, my mom picked it out.” To which Cordelia sneers, “No wonder you’re such a guy magnet.” In a sweet tone. Willow walks away, Buffy looks on perturbed, but doesn’t speak up. Cordelia offers Buffy a place among her snobby clique. On the outside Buffy seems pleased by this. Earlier Cordelia had mentioned that Buffy search the library for some text books for class, so that’s where Buffy heads next. When she arrives  the library it is slightly dark and dusty, she calls out for someone, but no one answer. Suddenly there is a man behind her.

Meet Rupert Giles.

Teach her, Obi Wan.

Teach her, Obi Wan.

Giles introduces himself as the Librarian and tells Buffy that he has been expecting her. He goes behind his desk and pulls out a large old book with the name “Vampyr” on the front. This book seems to make Buffy lose her nerve and she runs off, leaving Giles looking unpleasantly puzzled. Outside, Buffy finds Willow again and makes friends with her. She tells her that she needs a smarty pants friend so that she doesn’t flunk all of her classes, they are joined by Xander, who is quite goofy and endearing. Their laughter is interrupted by Cordelia when she brings news of a dead body found in the school. Buffy shows far too much interest in the body, weirding everyone, especially Cordelia out. Buffy makes her way to the body, discovers the marks that she was looking for and heads back to the library to accost Giles. “It’s my first day! I was afraid that I was going to be behind in all my classes, that I wouldn’t make any friends, that I would have last month’s hair! I didn’t think there would be vampires on campus and I don’t care.” Giles asks, “Then why are you here?” Buffy stumbles, “To..tell you that I don’t care, which I don’t and have now told you, so… bye.”
Giles asks her if the boy will “rise again”, to which Buffy says, “No, he’s just dead. to make you a vampire they have to suck your blood, then you have to suck their blood, it’s just a great big sucking thingy…”
Giles tells her she is the slayer and she has a duty, she must attend to her destiny. That she mustn’t rebel against her calling. He tells her that he is a “watcher” he’s HER watcher. He trains, her prepares her.  She tells him that he can’t possibly prepare her, prepare her for losing all her friends, for people dying. All she wants is a normal life.
Supernatural occurrences  are building in Sunnydale, something is happening. Something is coming. Or someone. The scene changes over to a rather large, bumpy vampire saying some kind of scripture..What’s he doing?
Later that night Buffy heads off to the Bronze. We soon realize that someone is following her. Buffy realizes it too.

Meet Angel.

"Don't worry, I don't bite"

“Don’t worry, I don’t bite”

Angel tells her that she has to be ready, “Ready for what” she asks, “For the harvest”, he replies. Angel then mysteriously disappears, he does that a lot you will see. When Buffy finally makes it to the Bronze (a club that allows teens in, although they don’t allow underage drinking) she meets up with Willow, she also notices that Giles is lurking about. Giles lectures her again about her “destiny” and tells her that there is so much that she doesn’t know about her slayer powers. Buffy notices Willow taking off with a stranger who happens to be  a vampire. Buffy takes off to save her, and runs into Xander on the way.
Willow allows the guy she is with to lead her into the cemetery and into a crypt where she soon learns that this isn’t just some teenage make out spot. They are joined by another blond vampire, the vampire from the beginning of the show, her name is Darla. Darla and her lackey talk about taking Willow and a victim of Darla’s, Jessie, to “The Master”. Buffy arrives to save the day, she stakes the vampire dude, he turns to dust. Buffy the confronts Darla and tells Xander to get Willow and Jessie out of there. When Willow, Xander, and Jessie get outside they find themselves surrounded by lumpy faced vampires who look hungry. Meanwhile Buffy is fighting with Darla when a new vampire comes into the fray, he is a large mean looking dude named Luke. Luke makes Darla go away so that he can take care of Buffy himself. He prattles on about The Harvest.
“Luke says, “you’re strong, I’m stronger. You’re wasting my time. You think you can stop me? Stop us? You have no idea what you’re dealing with. “And like a plague of boils the race of man covered the earth, but on the third day of the newest life will come the harvest and the blood of men will flow as wine and the master will walk among them once more. The earth will belong to the old ones, and hell itself will come to town.”  We know next to nothing about this Master person, except that he’s super ugly.

Meet The Master

He's obviously the King of the Bumpy Faces.

He’s obviously the King of the Bumpy Faces.

Luke and Buffy’s battle takes a turn for the worst when he throws her into a tomb and leaps in beside her, fangs bared. Buffy Screams….
